Macey's chemotherapy treatment requires about 5 weeks of hospitalization for each session. That equates to approx 35 days in the hospital per visit.
The Doctors have informed the Tilsner's she will have 5 chemotherapy sessions. When you do the math that means Macey will spend a (minimum) of 175 days in Children's Hospital fighting her Leukemia.
If you multiply 175 days by the 182 miles they will travel to the hospital totals 31,850 miles during this trying time for their family.
The national average in the US for fuel consumption is 17MPG, which means the Tilsner's will have to purchase over 1,874 gallons of gasoline.
And as of today Wawa is selling Unleaded Gas at $2.39 a gallon.
When you multiply the 1,874 gallons of fuel at the price of $2.39 over the course of Macey's treatment the family will spend $4476.47 in fuel consumption.
And when you add $7.75 in tolls and $3.00 for parking multiplied by 175 days that equals $1,881.25 in travel expenses.
