The Purpose of Read Across America
Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school.

I took a turn with the 5th Graders and the Kindergartners
Meet Ms. Alegre and Ms. Browns bilingual class.
Many of these kids started at the school speaking little to no English. When I went in and spoke to them it was amazing how well these kids have adapted. We were counting, reading and talking numbers in both English & Spanish. (well they were as I only know 5 words in Spanish!) Another example of the hard work and dedication of the teachers at Glenwood Avenue School - I tip my Dr. Seuss Hat to them!
