6th Annual
Make A Wish Weekend.
Christine & Drew were the lovely couple who met you at the door. Had we hosted this event in December they would not have been able to help. They were both in the hospital recovery from an horrific automobile accident that was of no fault of their own. Still on the road to recovery they wanted to repay the kindness show to them... they jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the Make A Wish Weekend.
The Dream.... Rick Jones of Cape May Par 3 befriended a guest of his Par 3 Golf Club. A parent of a child who was a recipient of a Wish. Well... this friendship gave Rick an idea, why not start a fundraising effort for children in Cape May County who need Wishes. And he's proud to tell you, in the past 6 years this event has raised over $400,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation of New Jersey.
But Rick had 2 requirements for the Make A Wish organization.
1 - that 100% of the money raised goes to Wishes.
2 - that 100% of the dollars raised "stays" in Cape May County
for our local kids...
The Team: Cindy (far right) is the glue that holds this event all together. A MAW volunteer who grants wishes for our local children took on the responsibility of overseeing the operation of the Weekend. All the while furthering her college education and raising her family of two girls and one boy with her husband Paul. Words can not describe her dedication to this organization.
Lynne is another great friend to Make A Wish. A granter of wishes, Lynne also play a big part of the Make A Wish Weekend. Working hand in hand with Cindy offering her time and effort for the success of this event. When not making wishes come true Lynne can be found enjoying her other passion - being a Jimmy Buffet - Parrothead!
In the middle is me, John... I have the easy job - getting everyone fired up for the evening as the Emcee and Auctioneer. I can tell you I sleep well at night knowing that the "MAW TEAM" works very hard for some of the bravest children you will find in Cape May County! Our goal is simple... making life long memories for our children... through your generosity!
These 11 lovely ladies are just a few of the many volunteers who helps make the Make A Wish Weekend possible! We can not thank the local community, businesses and volunteers enough. Without you this event is not possiable.
